We visited Tatton Park Flower show 2019 at which there were some excellent gardens to enjoy and be inspired by.

Lets take a look at a few!

The Phytosanctuary Garden

Designer – Kristian Reay
Builder – Steven Foxcroft Landscapes
Award – Gold Medal Winner

A stunning Young Designer Garden to see is The Phytosanctuary Garden, Designed by Kristian Reay, 27 from Somerset. This garden picked up a most deserving Gold medal.

Utilising this season’s key colour trend with the placement of a Cream / Gold pathway winding through beautiful, well stocked borders. This garden was built around a centrally placed Olive Tree. It was created to raise awareness of Xylella and the threat it poses to our much loved plants- by selecting plants that are at risk from the Xylella fastidiosa bacterium.

We also love the use of different materials in this garden. The gravel pathway leading to areas of wooden decking and copper seating. Along with the height of the border plants giving the feel of wandering into seclusion down the winding paths which create a place for quiet contemplation.

Baroque Garden

Designer – Laurence Senior
Builder – Laurence Senior
Award – Silver Medal Winner

One of our personal favourites is the Baroque Garden, which is one of the Young Designer Gardens Designed and Built by Laurence Senior, 25 from Yorkshire. Again picking up on the key trend of using a Gold / Cream decorative gravel this garden really has a classical feel inspired by Tudor and Baroque design.

It is both sophisticated and elegant and particularly love the symmetry of the garden. We suspect we will be seeing more from Laurence Senior in the future – who also picked up a well-deserved Silver Medal for his garden.

1 in 10

Designer – Charlie Hartigan
Builder – Envisage Gardens
Award – Silver Gilt Medal Winner

The 1 in 10 garden was designed by Charlie Hartigan, 28 from Worcester and was another Young Designer Garden. This stunning garden was created to raise awareness of endometriosis. Therefore it features a purple and cream planting scheme to produce a calming environment.

We particularly loved the water feature with the use of pebbles placed in a pond and waterfall cascading down into the pond. It was also surrounded by aquatic plants that seamlessly ran into adjoining bedding plants.

Contemplation Corner

Designer – Pip Probert
Builder – Outer Spaces
Award – Silver Gilt Medal Winner

We loved the very neat garden designed by Cheshire based Pip Probert, with use of formal structure and straight lines in amongst planting. Along with elegant walkways framed by decorative borders of a mix of gravel, decorative stones and well-formed topiary bushes.

Designed as low maintenance, this garden allows you to sit back and relax in the comfortable space more often!

Caledonian Coastal Garden

Designer – Aidan Cifelli
Builder – Artisan Landscapes
Award – Silver Medal Winner

This beautiful garden is designed by 24 year old Aidan Cifelli. Believe it or not this is his first garden that he has designed since he started his position as a Garden Designer for Artisan Landscapes in Bristol earlier this year.

This garden was created to reflect Aidan’s memories of growing up in Scotland and really bring the coast inland! We adore the strong lines against the smoothness of the tumbled pebbles and the rough texture of the strategically placed boulders. The pebbles graduate back to a smaller on trend colour gravel, framed in perfectly by a strong retaining step.

This is just a taster of the gardens on show and a few of our favourites at Tatton Flower Show 2019. The Young Designer Gardens were highly impressive and can see all of them having a long a prosperous future. Enjoy a plentiful shopping experience too!
